colour contrasts

houseof is excited to announce their latest collaboration with interior designer Emma Gurner. Emma Gurner and houseof have a long standing relationship, with Emma often using houseof lighting in her projects.
Emma’s designs are notable for her playful use of colour and incorporating modern style with hints of nostalgia. Alongside houseof’s bold colour palette and retro shapes; the collaboration feels a natural fit.
“This collection explores how different colour combinations work harmoniously together. The range was inspired by vintage designs, with a contemporary twist. My aim was to produce a lighting range that complimented the edgy style of houseof whilst introducing an element of my own bold and colourful style.”

houseof and Emma Gurner have designed 6 different pieces, across two ranges for The Contrasting Colour Collection. These include table lamps, ceiling lights, floor lamps and wall lights.
The collection encompasses classic style with a modern twist, with beautiful warm colours, interesting shapes, textural elements and contrasting colours, pairing moss green with pale blue and burnt orange with pale pink.

The colour palettes, chosen by Emma, are striking on their own but warm enough to fit in with existing interior schemes. Both ranges stand out with their interesting material choices; by using steel and glass for the light shades, the designers have taken something that may have once felt quaint and old fashioned and given a sleek new twist.
“We are super excited to collaborate with Emma Gurner on this fresh new collection. We have worked with Emma since the launch of houseof in 2019 and have always been a fan of her bold interiors and the way she champions colour and texture - we couldn’t be happier with the designs Emma has created for us.”
